Some garments from Maria Calderara‘s new collection are born in dialogue with the works of Antonio Scaccabarozzi. From the circle, a shape dear to the designer, comes her new collection “Round River” which reinterprets the painter’s works starting from certain recurring themes, such as the fluidity of color. The palette of the collection ranges from white to black, white with touches of cherry red, sunshine yellow, grass green and blue in various shades. The play of soft-rigid, transparent-opaque, crisp-fluid, masculine-feminine contrasts is always present in Maria Calderara’s creations. The homage to Scaccabarozzi appears in various citations, as in the dress composed of a collage of newsprint on a cotton muslin. This produces an unexpected result that confirms the continuous research on materials carried out by the Milanese brand.

The inspiration for Avant Toi‘s SS24 pre-collection comes from a journey to another era. A journey back in space and time to Victorian-era England. A period of deep connection with nature that influences the collection by picking up delicate and fresh tones like flower petals. Pastel tones that color knitwear garments made of cashmere and silk, linen, cotton and in the fabrics of micro-stitch, linen net and stretch silk. The textures of the garments are ultra-soft and present new processes such as the ‘brushed effect’: spots of colour given with a freehand brush that create abstract designs on kimonos and other special garments. Avant Toi’s SS24 pre-collection is playful, floral, with butterfly embroidery and Victorian-style hot air balloon prints, but there are also the iconic camouflage colors, degradé and the marbled effect that brings to mind the image of walls marked by time.
